Advice on removing thinset from paving stones

Hired a tile contractor a couple of months back and they stained a bunch of my paving stones with thinset while walking in and out the house. Didnt notice it at first because the pavers were wet. But a few days later I noticed and tried to clean with a wire brush and hose. Any thick stains I was able to pry loose with a flat screwdriver but some smaller ones are embedded. Been well over a month now and still looks the same. Any advice?

You can try sulfamic or phosphoric acid, perhaps straight white vinegar. If that doesn't work try a power washer.

I'd be very nervous about muriatic acid, unless you are very familiar with its use.
