Does a composite shower pan need liner?

Hi All,

I plan on installing a swanstone (composite) shower pan. Their limited installation instructions, don't really depict whether or not I should use a 40 (or so) mil liner, then place the pan on it.

(Using wonderboard CBU for walls and tiling from the ceiling all the way to the
shower pan on a 3 wall surround shower).

Advice welcome.

But you do need a moisture barrier behind the CBU on the walls.

Thanks Bob. I do have 15lb roofing felt for over the studs and behind the CBU. Just looking at the drain, I couldn't realistically see how it would be leak proof ala the Kerdi system.
