Hey,
I have a typical "1994 production builder" shower...i.e. 4.5" White Porcelan tiles over some type of moisture resistant drywall.
My wife wants a very small shower bench installed (so she can put her foot on whilst shaving). Better Bench (
www.innoviscorp.com) looks like a great solution.
Manufacturer instructions have you remove some wall tiles, screw the bench into the sub-wall, and re-thinset and install tiles.
My problem: I pulled off one of the "leg" tiles on the wall of the shower and found the sub-wall to be full of mousture and to me, felt like it could crumble if I jostle it too much.
Is the wet rated drywall strong enough for me to remove a couple of tiles, or am I better off drilling holes though some tiles, installing the bench and tiling over the bench?
I plan drill through the tiles...Is this a bad move?
Thanks,
Ted
