So to clarify I have ice and water shield directly to the sub floor then a preslope then an EPDM liner over the preslope. Then my mud bed. The curb in under pavers and mortar. The EPDM is over the curb with lath wrapped on top of the liner and then mortar over the top of the lath. We use EPDM under concrete quite often so I believe the dry mix is fine on top of the EPDM. I will check the backer board height and the height of the fasteners. I have the wall board height set at 1/2” above the finished shower floor. I will check the height of the fasteners in the wall board to see if they are higher than the curb.

Screws are 2” above the curb.
