Transitions

Hi all,

I have barely survived making this 120 year old area plumb, level, and square for my new shower.

I want opinions on best practices at transition points. Specifically where curb meets wall(added for vent), and the two corners along that wall face.

Original wall on left: lime plaster
Shower wall: 3x12 ceramic soldiers
Floor and curb: 12x24 marble

The wall face(rough) starts out 4” at bottom, going to 5.75” at the top (8 ft).

Thanks

Not sure I understand the question. You talking about aesthetic considerations for your tile installation, or something technical?

As for the marble floors, I'd recommend you type marble shower into our Advanced Search feature and browse for some of the problems folks have with those marble shower floors.

And I don't see a drain in your photo, but with those large format tiles I'm guessing you plan a linear drain?

What's the rest of that wall look like, say, at the other end? Any way to continue that otta plumb wall all the way down or is there a door there?

Thank you for your response!
Yes it’s a linear drain on the right. And I will read about marble shower floors. I guess my question is more aesthetic.

If I plaster that face, is there a corner bead / edge trim product that will strengthen my plaster corner and hide the tile edge invisibly?

If I understand the question, the metal profiles on the edges is the simplest and cost effective for most of the finishes.

There are other ways of doing it and I'm assuming your tile doesn't have bullnose trim?

Agree with James, I’ve had great luck with the metal transitions. Take a bit of time in advance to plan the layout and it will look great.
