Firebox

Hi,

First time poster. I'm tiling my brick fireplace. I'm using a ledger board to support the row of tiles above the firebox (12" square zellige mosaic). My question is, when is it safe to remove the ledger board? How long until the thinset is sufficiently set that the tile isn't in danger of falling off or sagging?

thanks,
Andrew

Overnight is plenty in most cases.

update and grout question

Thanks! It's coming along nicely.

Trying to attach a picture. Not sure I did that right but we'll see.

Wondering if anyone has advice on grout. The lines are paper thin, less than 1/16". Will regular un-sanded grout work on this? I'd use a portland cement based grout because it's on a fireplace.

Most grout lists 1/16th as the minimum size, but I'd rather not leave this ungrouted if possible.

Definitely use an unsanded grout, Andrew.
