Change of plane grout/caulk question

I'm currently tiling my tub surround and it has a niche. My question is i know that changes in plane corners should be caulked instead of grouted, does that go for the niche as well? The niche is 42" tall between 2 existing wall studs. The niche is constructed using plywood, 2x4, hard I backer, and redgard waterproofed.

Yes, 100% silicone for all changes of plane in the niche.

The alternative to caulk is an engineered joint. A bunch of companies make them to include Custom Building Products and Schluter (probably the oldest and largest supplier with the biggest variety). Those can either be mostly hidden, or a design statement depending on the type and color and material it is made of.
