diy, tile-able shower bench in a tub replacement Plank Pitch Shower Base
I'm new to this site, so sorry! I'm not sure if I'm using this site in the right way, but here it goes. I wanted to ask a question on a tile-able shower bench for my bathroom. We are putting in a tub replacement Plank Pitch shower base with a trench drain so we can tile with larger wood look plank tiles, what I need to know is, can we put a diy tile-able shower bench right on the tub replacement Plank Pitch Shower Base, like the ones on this site made with the Two-inch thick Kerdi-board?
Thank you,
Teresa

Welcome, Teresa.
Some of that would depend upon what you intend for the waterproofing of your shower. The bench Eric linked could be used with most any waterproofing method, as could one made with materials such as KerdiBoard, but they'd all do better when using a direct bonded waterproofing membrane method, which seems to be what you have in mind.
Eric's Noble Company sells other materials for that, too.
My opinion; worth price charged.

Here are two picture that might help with my question
Thanks to both, Eric, & CX for your reply to my question...but here is 2 Pictures... , of what My Husband, & I wanted to do, DIY shower bench, “framed” with Kerdi-board in one of the the pictures I attached. Can we build a shower bench like the picture right on the shower base like the other picture I attached, of the pitch plank shower base with a trench drain?
Thanks again,
Teresa

Hi Teresa,
You can build a bench like that only if you're drinking Negra Modelo.
Yes, you can build a Kerdi-board bench on the Tile-Redi floor. You can bond it there with thinset mortar or with one of the urethane adhesives like Kerdi-fix.
You will need to make a watertight transition between the Kerdi-board shower walls and the shower floor. Kerdi-band is one way. You can also use urethane adhesive/caulking.
The bench in your picture is from Tile Bathroom Remodeling by John Bridge.

Was it fun tiling up to that wavy bench pedestal? I bet without that Negro Modelo the pedestal comes out square

thank you John Bridge!
Thank you so much for your reply John Bridge, & yes the picture is from... John Bridge.com site, I love the bench in that picture, you do awesome work !, but we are thinking of doing a rectangle shape bench... which 1 side, & the back of the bench will be attached to the walls, the other side will be open, & tiled as will the front, & top of the bench. Hopefully its ok to leave the 1 side open, & tiled??
Thanks again!,
Teresa

Of course. Any shape bench will work.
This is the bench during the course of construction. Tiling up to it (shower floor) took 80 man/hours (and several brewskies).

Hi John
That Shower is so beautiful, I seen pictures yesterday, somewhere online, of that entire bathroom & it was done, I'm sure it took a long time to do all of the work, but it was worth it... because it is breathtaking!
