Metal Firebox

Hello
I have a 1980`s unfinished Heatilator that is in great shape for my basement Fireplace. No doors, No Blower. Just the box itself. No surround stone. No Mantle, No Hearth. No Doors. This was built in 1983 and is set in a cinder block surround with Brick tabs on the face. My question is, has any one here ever attached tile(Fire Brick) to the inside of one of these? If so, what was used to attach the Tile (Fire Brick) to the metal sides? I know heat will be a factor so glue is out. Mastic? Mortar? Screw in Wire and go from there? This is more for aesthetics, could some one chime in please?

Thank you.

Welcome, mark942. Please put a first name in a permanent signature line for us to use.

Do you plan to use this device as a wood-burning fireplace?

Hello Mark (?), here's a link to e-how Heatolator Brick Panel replacement: http://www.ehow.com/how_12216871_rep...fireplace.html

If you can't get replacement panels by contacting Heatolator, try snugly fitting fire brick with refractory mortar to fill the gaps.
