top outside corner with metal edge trim?

Our son is having a remodel done and in one bath they are doing a pony wall with "schluter" edge trim.

Where the trim comes together at the 2 outside corners the contractor is saying that they get the best results by carefully mitering the top trim pieces and then the vertical piece would butt up against them. They then break the sharp edge slightly.

I see that there are several rounded and square inserts that you can get for this type of application but the contractor for some reason apparently did not want to use them.

Opinions on the "mitering" approach? (I know a minor issue perhaps).

I could find posts regarding the corner inserts, but no downside I could see, and could not find examples of a mitered outside corner. Apologies if I missed it.

Either/or. The corners are fine but sometimes they end up being one more thing to try to line up properly. Also, sometimes they aren't readily available.

The downside of miters is that they can be sharp and pointy. Also, it can be a challenge to cut all of the edges perfectly with multiple angles going on.

Yes, I think that is it, the contractor mentioned something about the corner piece being difficult to get perfectly aligned in all three directions with exactly equal and perfectly perpendicular joint gaps or it looks sloppy.

I would also be a bit concerned about the "sharp" edge with the miter even if he breaks the edge. At any rate they asked for my comments, but I am first to admit it is out of my area of experience. I would say just trust the contractor as he is great on everything else so far.
