Indian is about 9" tall.
Here's a hard maple bowl I spun onna lathe. It's about 5 1/2" wide and 3" tall. Hollowed out. Pretty lightweight. One thing I like about lathework is the instant gratification on most projects.
Does anybody make pens on a lathe? They're fun and make nice personal gifts.

I've had a lathe for years, but I don't think I've ever attained as high a quality of work, Bubba. I know DaveM has done some pretty tricky things, too.

I haven't used a lathe since Jr high days but it's something I'd like to try again. I would also like to try carving a bear with a chain saw but my job keeps getting in my way.

I've never done a hollow form, but I do like making simple bowls and they are always well received as gifts. Here are a couple in progress for Christmas gifts this year.
