Gregk's tub to shower conversion.

Hi all. Joined last year when i started my project. A big thanks to every one that donates their time and knowledge to those of us that need help with tiling projects.

My new shower involved removing tub, moving rear wall back 26 inches (after relocating my main entry door to make room) and building a 5'x5' shower with a bench along back wall. Durock on walls, shower base mix for base (which I paid a pro to do and I ended up having to fix low areas)
I used a schluter linear drain and planned to use Kerri on base and walls but due to bad rotator cuffs in both shoulders I did a hybrid with Kerri on horizontal surfaces and corners and changes of horizontal to vertical plane. The walls got Ardex 8+9, 2 coats..
I also moved control valve to opposite wall and installed a regular head on wall, a rain head in ceiling and a handheld.
Walls are 12x24 porcelain, floor is 2x2 porcelain. All grout is Flexcolor CQ and changes of plane is colormatched silicone.
Seat top and curb top are LG Hymacs, similar to Corian I believe.
I've been using it for 6 months now with no issues, love the space instead of showering in a tub.

Nicely done, Greg, very tidy. I especially like how you kept a pillow in there for naps, shows real commitment.

Looks like he used 2x coats of Ardex 8+9 (pictures out of order) which is pretty awesome stuff and I have used this combo with Kerdi in the past although Herr Schluter is not a fan.

Good work Greg, I am a fan of the mixing valve/drain placement and the niche detail.

Originally planned to use Kerdi on walls, even purchased it, but was afraid I couldn't do a good job due to it being painful to raise my arms (torn rotator cuffs in both shoulders). So I waterproofed walls with 2 coats of Ardex 8+9 applied with roller on short extension pole. Due to arthritis I also installed only 3 tiles per day, typically.
This was first time doing a shower, and thanks to all the information gleaned from many hours of reading on this forum I am very happy with the outcome.
