Shower remodel

In the process of remodeling our master bath, have been reading the site for a while. Will probably have some kerdi questions down the line as I plan(already have) to use the LS pan w/ a linear drain. Gutted the room down to the studs/joists. Plumbing is all set. Joists needed some sistering to level the room.

The bathroom is 10'x8' on 2x12" joists. Deflection calc says its fine for the ceramic tile we(the wife) will be picking.

Currently questioning subfloor/underlayment. The 3/4" T&G plywood I installed, which after leveling, is flush with the bedroom's 3/4" + 1/2" ply. I planned on using ditra heat as the uncoupler so thats 1/4" plus the thinset under and over + tile so i'm a little concerned about threshold height. I bought 3/8 bc ply to add to the subfloor but its sh*t and I felt more comfortable/stable with just the t&g. Can I put the ditra right on the 3/4 t&g? Should I try and find a better 3/8 ply or move up to 1/2"?

Assuming your joists are on 16" centers, I'd slap the ditra heat right on the 3/4" tounge and groove.

Materials have been gathered. I tried to order Ditra All Set but they only sold it by the pallet

1) What's a good thinset to use under Ditra heat and for a kerdi board shower? or anyone know where i can get Ditra All Set by the bag in northern NJ?

2) I have the LS pan,(pics below) I opened it up to check it out and it looks like if I use the double sided tape then there will be a lump in the fabric. Is this normal?

3) I'm undecided on what to cap the half/pony wall with, either a solid piece that matched the vanity top or schluter strips and tile. I'm about to frame the half wall, where does the top pitch towards the shower come from? Is it pitched by the cap/tile or do I build the pitch into the top of the half wall?

(3) Best to pitch the top plate of the kneewall, so cut the top edge of the kneewall studs 1.5 degrees off square.

Life got in the way of this remodel....to say the least. Thanks to the info on here I'm finishing up, and I'm a little amazed at how fast I got it dun. Lol.

I used the spectralock1 on the walls. Easy to put on and to work with..I'm just not sure if there is anything else I need to do to it.....it doesn't seem to dry like the spectralock pro epoxy....which i used on the floor.


Any thoughts on a temp door/curtain? I was thinking of picking up the zipwall dust barrier kit since my glass will be 4-6 weeks turn around time, and suddenly I'm in a rush to use it lol

Temp walls will work, but be sure to wait the waiting time for the grout to fully cure. 5 days I think
