Greg...

What everyone else says goes for me.

The fact that these decisions are gut wrenching demonstrates that, a bond between animal and man, pet and master, two beating hearts, flesh and blood.... does exists, is precious and unique, and bespeaks of mankind’s ultimate goodness and salvation.

I have no doubt that the decisions you make in this matter are made with difficulty tempered by love, caring and concern.

Equally, I have no doubt that Murphy somehow realizes and accepts this.

Greg, It's a tough decision and I don't envy you. Others have given you some very good advice and I can't really say much more. I think you will know when the time comes.

We were glad we didn't have to make the final decision when Bailey, our beloved hound, died in late August. He went fast and died at home, on his bed, before we could get him to the vet. We have a "cemetery" area in our front yard and we buried Bailey there with his bed. He joined two cats and a rabbit.

These are, in order, (1) Hoover Cat, (2) Kung Foo Cat, (3) Ninja Cat, (4) Golf Cat --And it's a downhill curve on the slope-- and (5) well, I'm not sure what to call this last cat!

Went ice fishing with my buddy last week and he brought his lab along - the dog goes just about everywhere with him. The lab loves to go fishing and particularly loves to catch fish. This was his first time ice fishing and he soon realized that his "prize" comes out of that little hole in the ice. When the catching slowed down he would put his paw or mouth in the water to encourage the fish!

Rocky got a bag of Beggin Strips, his favorite and a couple chew bones
for christmas. He knew the present under the tree was his. Our
cats got some treats too. The last pic of the cat laying in the sink is
too funny. Our cat Hurley begs for fresh water from the sink.

Jack, glad to hear that Rocky has some new treats. He is the lovingest guy and deserves them.

While we were visiting Jack and Mrs. Hamilton this weekend, Rocky kept trying to curl up in my lap....all 60+ pounds of him. He's a total love.

Scooter can't wait for Xmas. He knows which stocking hung by the fire is his and will sit in that chair all day and just stare at his stocking and sometimes wimper just a little.
Oh for the love of a squeeky toy. Takes about 3 minutes to get the little squeeker out.

Frank, the picture is deceiving. The ice was about 8 inches - its almost transparent beneath the snow. There is another lake up here where the ice can be completely transparent and 30 inches thick. Very eerie. You could look under your feet and see the fish lying on the bottom.

BTW, that lab scarfed down two perch then proceeded to upchuck them about an hour later. Two days later he was back trying to eat more.

Juan, I think I would have to have a word or two with any dog that ate delicious perch like those. It's been a long time since I was ice fishing.
