Many people are stuck in a rut...don't want to change. There is some validity to that...not all new things are better. I feel Schluter has done their homework on their products, and they've been around long enough to have proven themselves, so the risk is minimal. The biggest thing is you need to follow instructions that may differ from you previous experiences (like use unmodified thinsets on top of the membranes).
If you can tear someone, scratching and screaming, away from their traditional methods, most would see the light.
