What is your favorite thinset for ditra?

Wondering what everyone's top manufacturer picks are for thinset ...more specifically your favorite modified to go underneath Ditra as well as unmodified on top of Ditra. I will also be laying down Porcelain tiles on top of that. Any big box store will do. Lowies, Homies and My-Nards in Chicagoland.

What cha guys think? C'mon gimme your favorites and don't get to pricey on me unless you really think it performs!

Tanks

I agree, don't go cheap on un-modified thinsets.

DitraSet
Kerabond
Tec's FullSet Plus

Brian, don't forget the disclaimer that you'll give up your warranty if you use Versabond over Ditra.

I have always used ultraflex 2 over and under all my ditra installs with no issues for over 2 yrs now since I started using it.

I know they say dont use modified over it but it works fine out here in denver. maybe its cuz our air is so dry.

Is this true?

I can't find Ditraset. Looks like I can get Kerabond at Lowes maybe? Mapei is Kerabond... right? Do I mix an additive to it to modify? Grey or white? I hear good thing bout Laticrete. I know Lowes carries Laticrete but I'm not sure about 253 and 317.... hmm

Kerabond is good stuff. Mix it with water over ditra.
317 is good too. (=Megabond) Mix with water over ditra.
I also use rapidsets, but this will void the warranty, unlike the options above.
Regarding gray/white... can't USUALLY go wrong with white. What are you laying, ceramic or stone? Light color or dark? Big heavy things or little things?

Under ditra, use is dependent on what you're setting over, IE plywood, concrete, self-leveler... What are you setting over?

~Rich,

you need to use a Modifed under the Ditra over plywood subfloor.
you need to use an Unmodifed to set the tile on top of the Ditra.
some use Versabond or another type of Modified to do both but Schluter doesn't want it.
most stick to what Schluter says.

Cool More Info

Heres my lineup from the top... 12x12 Dark colored porcelain w/medium colored grout, then unmodified something, ditra, unmodified something, 1/2" BCX, and finally 3/4"plywood subfloor.

Mapei is Kerabond, right? Does Kerabond make more than one type?...like Laticrete does? I wont go cheapo if it means no more failing tile floors like the rest of my house.

Thanks again
