Hi there,
I have an old house, with wonky, out of plumb walls. Maybe by about 1/4". I want to do a simple subway tub surround, bit I am concerned with how it will look. I am hoping a good tiler can do reasonably attractive corners?
I have an old corner tub, so there is only one corner to worry about tiling. I just really want it to look reasonably nice.
Can you recommend anyone in my area?
What are reasonable questions for me to ask? Should I ask what the layout will look like? How good/bad the corners will look? Can a corner shelf work well if the corner isn't square?
Can the wall be built up a bit? One guy told me thinset cannot be used for this. Another guy told me he could do it, and assured me "it won't look like a hack job." I'm not sure if "not a hack job" is the standard I should be aiming for.
What red flags should I listen for in the answers?
I'm so nervous and worried about this. Here is a photo I found online of a similar problem to mine. I do NOT want my corner and shelf to look like this:
Thank you!
