4th time is the charm

I'm back again, this time under my own name. I realized that I've had generic accounts for Florida Tile, MAPEI, Metropolitan, and now (as of August 2022) for Schluter so it would probably be easiest to just be Dan going forward.

I'll do my best to answer your Schluter questions but unless it's a very general question, I'll probably steer you to your local rep. In fact, I suggest you start there because those guys and gals are incredibly talented and know the nuances of your market. Unlike other companies, they want you to ask them questions. Try it! You'll be surprised.

I'll also do my best to answer questions you may have about product standards, the TCNA Handbook, sustainability, and other tile nerd stuff. I sit in a lot of those meetings so chances are I've heard your question discussed by a big group of really smart people at some point or another.

If you have general questions about tile or installation products, feel free to ask me. I've worked for 4 tile manufacturers and 2 installation products companies so chances are good I'll be able to give you an answer. If not, Schluter has a pretty amazing staff of engineers, scientists, and former installers who will know the things I don't.

I'm looking forward to diving back in, the JB Forum feels like home!

Well, isn't that interesting?!

Perhaps adding a company name to your signature line indicating which company you now represent would be helpful, Dan. Are we to understand that we now have an actual Schluter rep participating on our forums?

That depends on how rowdy y'all get! But yes, here I am in my finest orange attire ready to answer questions about Ditra, Kerdi, All-Set, profiles, and the other fine products that Schluter sells. Fire away!

Actually participating here is a bit of a Sea Change for Herr Schluter, Dan. Are we permitted to know how/why that came about?

While I can no longer speak for the site management, I think it's a good idea and somewhat overdue.

Like the other companies I've worked for, Schluter tightly controls who can respond on channels like John Bridge. There is a 'social media team' that is authorized to answer questions after undergoing training on how to properly represent the company. Unlike a phone call, anything we write here can be searched up 100 years later when disputes come up. That's probably what caused the friction you're alluding to in the past.

Since I'm a veteran of the forum and have represented several other companies in this capacity, they felt comfortable giving me the chance. The JB forum is well regarded at Schluter, I just think there is a hesitation to engage here since the conversations often get quite technical. I'm either seasoned or naive but I'll do my best to represent

Davy, thanks for the welcome back!

Welcome back, Schluter Dan. You're faster than a speeding bullet. When I first met you you were with Florida Tile. That was a while back.

I see Gobis is all over himself giving you a welcome.

JB, can't help it.

Dan, Happy to hear about your new choice of employment. OK JB?

JB, of all the places Dan could go, I think Orange suits him well and sure he will be very happy there.
