Speak for yourself there, Davy. I've managed to get 2 inches since last friday, and that brings me right up to 10 for the year so far. Have lost pecan and fruit trees, grapevines,blueberry and bush cherry plants even while running (metered) water hoses --sometimes 24/7.

Eternally grateful for what we got, but it is nowhere close to enough for this dried out part of Texas

The Dallas area has had about 3 inches this month, near 22 inches for the year.

I'm sitting in Certerville, Ohio. Drove through the Dallas/Ft. Worth area during the recent rain "event." But down I-35 a hundred-fifty miles we're still begging. There has been some rain since I left, but not nearly enough.

Like Van Camp, I've been watering trees. Haven't lost any, but my water bill has shot up.

Now, here in Ohio they are burning up. Temps have been in the low to mid-eighties since we got here. Janie and I have been sitting out enjoying it -- plenty cool for folks who have gotten used to the 90s and 100s. . . . . and they've had plenty of rain here.

Davy--I thought at first it was because the precinct I'm in was dry They just recently voted wet--maybe that's why we got what we did.

I can recall when I lived in Arlington, late 60s early 70s, you could tell where the county line was on accounta that's where alla liquor store were bunched together.

Usually west Texas is pretty dry. My dad lives there and received 5 1/8 inches in the past week. I'm pretty sure he's living right. I live in Princeton, north of Dallas and only got about 2 1/2 inches. It rain a bunch of days but not very heavy. Just enough to keep me from working in it.

In Boerne, north of San Antonio, we got barely one inch from all that.

Yep, not living right. Actually, I posted here in this thread before checking what we had received. I was thinking we got 4-5 inches. Nope, just 2 1/2. I'll do my homework first next time.

Yeah, and since everything in Texas is bigger, if y’all use a Texas measuring stick, it’ll only read an inch!

Bubba, this morning we had a pretty big thunderstorm come thru. It stretched from El Paso to Texarkana. Pretty good size but I've seen bigger more than once. It was dropping at least 18 inches an hour so CX should be getting it down stream any time now. Can't remember when but I know I've seen heavier rain than this. It finally rained itself out and the sun came out. It really got hot then, at least 120 in the shade with 130% humidity. It'll probably really heat up tomorrow.

Wow! I haven't seen one of those 30 inchers for many years down here and, much as we need the rain right now, I'd just as soon not see another. Whole lotta things go wrong when it rains like that.
