A snowy Christmas was rather rare, so I'll not be missing much.

After last December, and the blizzard and lots of snow, I don't care if I see another White Christmas again.

I'm getting too old to shovel the snow, and can't afford to pay someone else to do it.

At this point I'll accept a warm, snowless Christmas.

Houston's climate is almost identical to yours. We're on the same latitude. On three occasions during the 28 years I've lived here it has snowed, once on Christmas Eve a few years back. The kids were even able to make snowballs. I think we got about half an inch. It was only on the ground a couple hours before it melted, though. It was a very brief white Christmas.

The last time it snowed was late last year, several days before Christmas. Patti and I were on our way back from Brownsville, Texas, and I thought we were going to be blown off the road. It was a veritable blizzard. Got nearly an inch of slush that time. It was all gone by the next day.

Anyway, you may still experience a white Christmas in your new place of residence, but if it happens I guarantee you won't have to shovel any snow. Nobody down South knows what a snow shovel looks like, and they don't sell them at Wally World.

P.S. I have officially retired my AC for the season, and we won't need heat for a couple months. I'll save nearly two hundred a month in the meantime. This time of year, and into the spring, is the reason we live here.

Got our first rain of the season overnight, about 1/4". By Sunday, temps supposed to be back up in the 90's. Weird weather pattern, but then it's been weird all summer, what little summer we had. The rainfall predictions for our area (So. Cal.) are sayin' lower rainfall totals than normal due to a developing La Nina condition. Not a good for water-starved Southern California. Guess we'll just have to "steal" more from the Colorado river.

My A/C has been off for a week.

For the past week the weather has been absolutly comfortable, mid 60's at nite and low 80's during the day and dry. In NY one day of this type of weather was rare.

I just love it.

I got a show shovel! I use it to clean up wood shavings in my shop...


...and to shovel snow.

Wonderful fall weather in Upstate SC the last several days. Low humidity, highs in the low to mid 70's and lows in the mid 40's. We are seeing just a little color here and there.

Kathleen, I think I have shoveled snow ~10 or 12 times in the last 32 years of living here. Some of the time it is just to clear the walks and driveway so they don't ice up overnight. We have had a few 10-15 inch snows that really needed some shoveling. Quite a change from my Wisconsin days. Shovel the driveway so I could get the car out in the morning when I left for campus and shovel again at night so I could get the car back in the garage. Don't miss that one tiny little bit.

There's a strange thing going on outside. It's called rain.

It's been a while since it's rained here, not since September.

Now the dog wants to be taken out. I told him to cross his legs.
