Seems the tile related FB groups are popping up everywhere so maybe you might see more guys like Brian popping back in here, who knows maybe a JB Forum comeback
We are currently downtown Lancaster working on the Excelsior Project, once a brewery back in the 1800s it sat vacant for the last 38 years. Renovation started this past June from some owners who have a vision. JD Tile was selected to do the men's and women's tile wainscoting, about 300 sq. ft. in each bathroom. These floors were dirt not that long ago. There will be faux painting above the tile to the top of the ceiling and stamped concrete on the floors. On to the next one.... some pics from the job and what it is to be.

Cool project Jon. Love to see old buildings get reused. And nice article in the December Tile Letter about you.
And Jerry thanks for showing that outside work in the warm states isn't always fun and games. Hope you get it dried up eventually.

Demo'd a shower today, then started the valve body replacement. Yes, we worked on a Sunday, as the HO is away on vacation.
This 7 year old shower was leaking from the barely-covering-the-seams application of RG, the nails sticking through the liner, the lack of a pre-slope, the clogged weep holes, and overall crappy craftsmanship.

Paul nothing like a demo and starting fresh
Thanks Isaac, I love buildings with history since I have 50 years of it myself. I like being involved in a project like this where they got their act together, we nailed down a timeframe and we are going to town. They have catered to us in every way because they want this tile done in these bathrooms now and everything else is taking a back seat. Pic of the first bathroom after grouting with Permacolor Select on Friday. I liked their choice of layout for the tile vs a 50% offset or 30% offset. It is offset 30% but in a step pattern. They called it subway, really doesn't matter what they call it as long as we knew what they wanted and no tuning system needed with this pattern.
Yes I enjoyed the article in the TileLetter, telling it like it is for the average installer and to be honest and just say it ain't always a bowl of cherries doing this type of work. We are human and we are not at the top of our game every day.

It started as a clean and replace the tiny amount of moldy caulk call. Customer just purchased the house. A brilliant 'camouflage" job by the previous owner. When I cut the silicone all the walls moved. Bottom row of tile fell out. You could see where different adhesive was used to fix tile for sale of house. All on green board. A complete rip out. Most of my showers come from repairs like this one.
