Anyone used Laticrete Strata Heat Thermal Pack?

Just doing some radiant wire floor and stumbled upon this Laticrete Strata Heat Thermal Pack mortar additive. Looks like it is suppose to spread the heat more evenly and quickly into the floor area.

It will turn white mortar a dark charcoal color. Seems like it's possibly made of graphite (pencil led) and is non-magnetic. Name: MVIMG_20220107_125710.jpg

Guess I am on my own on this one.

Basic Direction:
1) Use full weight mortar. (50lbs type)

Does NOT recommend liteweight mortar. I gather reason being the performance would not be optimal as there is less mass for heat transfer. Or something like that.

2) Don't mix with polymerizing additives such as AdMix.

Most likely because the disolving plastic bag won't disolve properly with just Admix.

3) Add water and mix at lower RPM to avoid kicking up these extremely find dust.

These doesn't seem to really stain as it's a solid and not a coloring agent. But as always, test a bit on your natural stone tile to see if it stains.

I used it on travertine, and it cleans off well and doesn't stain these stone.

I use it all the time since we're an all-Laticrete company at the moment. I've often wondered what was in it. Could be a large black dye pack for all I know, lol.

I will use it when burying my wire. I might also use it when setting my tile. I've avoided it when using white mortar to set marble because I am concerned about staining.

Joe - STRATA_HEAT Thermal Packs shouldn't be used to install light colored stones as it will darken their color. A white mortar will become dark colored once mixed with thermal packs. Let me know if you have any other questions.
