The Orange Box Ain't All Bad

I usually stay out of the mud box to keep me out of trouble, but I figured this belongs in here...

My $30 homelite weed eater that I had for about a year died on me recently. As a "what the heck" I took it to the HD to see if they'd give me anything, especially since I lost my receipt. The guy in customer service gave me a brand new one. Said he felt lenient tonight!

I know it's just a lousy bottom of the line weed eater, but he would've had every right to tell me where to go but didn't.

I like to rip on HD as much as anyone, but I have to give them kudos where due. Homer did right by me tonight.

It's always good to give credit when due. We hope others might do the same for each of us.

Glad to hear that Brad. I have almost always been treated well at HD and Lowes. Only been thrown out of the HD tile department on two occasions... how many times having been thrown out of the other departments are of no importance.

Its fun to pick on Homer and some of the crazy things the associates can say there..... but the Depot rocks. Nobody else does what they do as well as they do it. Saves me a lot of time when I can make a phone call or fax and have an order waitig for me at the pro desk. Nice to have access to such a wide assortment of stuff in one stop.

Shoulda bought the Weed Eater brand Brad. I have had mine for 16 years and never have even changed the plug. Runs great. Course I won't be using till next year.

Mebbe if some of you Neanderthals used a razor the weed whackers could stay in lock-up storage

We can bitch all we want, but shopping there is what really counts. Lowe's, Home Depot, and Walmart still get some of my money. To them, that's the talking that matters. They deserve it, or I would go somewhere else.

We normally would take things back within reason to keep the customer happy, specially if they would accept a replacement. I've taken back unopened flooring that the customer had for almost 2 years that we no longer even sold. This customer has spent alot of money in the place so it was not a problem. We then donated the flooring to the local Habitat for Humanity. Also, alot depends on the sales of the store that day or week. If the sales were above prediction then the managers are more willing to take things back and take a small loss.

Forgot to mention that the weedeater has a 2 yr consumer warranty, so that's prolly why they took it back without question.
