Anyone been to one of the International Tile and Stone shows? Is it geared towards large buying companies or contractors or both? Theres one In New York in July....closer to home. Was thinking about it if it would be good for a guy like me. Anyone have any info?

hi randy
it is a tile and stone show, it is your field, so it can't be a waste of time for you. that's how I see it
if you want to see a great convention go to the coverings in orlando

I worked it last year in NYC ,it was the worst show I ever attended!!!Parking for the Javits is something like $40.00 (us) I met RD and ran into a old friend Tom Ade but other then that no one was there. The guys from Schluter were there but not sure if they're going back either..

My old pal Forrest always says "professional is as professional does".

If you want to be a high roller, you have to hang out with them.

I went to both ITSS shows last year. They were horrible. You could roll a bowling ball down the isles. I paid $65.00 to park in NYC. That show was the worst one I have ever been to. ITSS is owned by a lawyer who has deep pockets that is trying to get in on the tile and stone biz. The ITSS will eventually fold and go away. Too many trade shows out there. The one show you should attend is Coverings. We close the shop and we all head to Orlando. I said the same thing you did 5 years ago. I'm glad I found the money to go. I made new friends. Found great business contacts, and learned alot!!!! It's nice to see whats new in the industry. Coverings has 1000% more than ITSS will ever have. Dont waste your time with the ITSS show. Do Coverings. Tom has some good words of wisdom about professionalism. If you want to be paid like one, you got to think like one.

Thanks Tilemanct,

I'm not trying to offend anyone, just encourage them. Like you said, you don't realize how much they are worth until you go.

Forget the Stone show at the Javits center, unless you want to spend a million $ on a fabrication machine for stone, stay home, not worth the cost of parking your car, I had to pay $40 just to park, walked through the whole show in under an hr., not much there, as far as installer stuff, don't waste your time.

Thanks for the heads up guys........that show doesn't sound to promising. Out of curiousity Tom, how much is the airfare to get to Orlando from Toronto? What about a room for a couple days in Canadian Dollars? I guess If I had more of an idea of the total cost I could start saving a bit for next year.
Thanks.
