Tile Floor On Covered Deck?

I have an enclosed, second story, covered porch that will soon be ducted for heating an air conditioning. When it was still an outdoor deck, before the roof was constructed, and walls/windows installed, I replaced the 2 x 6 floor with Trex boards laid (screwed over 2 x 8 joists. There is no plywood subfloor. The bottom of the enclosed deck is insulated, which is covered with plastic siding material. So what was once an uncovered outdoor deck, will be another room in the house.

I'm now thinking of installing a tile floor over the Trex boards, (maybe even some sort of laminate (??). My question is what kind of underlayment would be a good choice for such an application. Can the subfloor be laid over the Trex, or should the Trex be removed first?

Thanks for your advice.

The Trex should be removed first. It's 50% PVC or something. You want plywood, then some sort of tile underlayment, either backerboard or a membrane.

The above presupposes the deck was constructed on par with a normal floor and the joists meet L/360 deflection criteria. Many decks do not meet either supposition.
