fire pit table

I am wanting to make a fire pit table for outside, it will basicaly be a coffee table with tile on top, but with a hole in the center and a fire bowl dropped in. Should I just frame it and put a few layers of backer board on top? What backer board will be ok with the heat of the fire? also tile and setting material? I don't want to burn down the place.
Is there a way I can shield the wood on the frame from the heat, or do I not need to. Thanks England

Hi,

I would suggest building it blocks and mortar, not wood framing.

Then steel is the way to go, it should be mobile...but isn't a mobile fire pit just another name for a grill
