Shower Niche questions

Hi all,

I've been cruising the web trying to find a local place to purchase a shower niche vs ordering one online (can you tell I'm anxious to get this bath done?) and stumbled upon this site. I have a couple questions for anyone that is willing to throw in their 2 cents!

First, we already have the cement board up and have now decided we want one of these niches. It's not too late, right?? We would simply have to cut the hole to size and set the niche in then tile it, right?

Does anyone have suggestions or warnings for good or bad if I order it online (it would appear this is my only option that I've found so far)?

Lastly, I don't think there is a barrier of any sort behind the cement board. Am I in trouble with leaving it that way? I could be completely wrong and have a call in to check that with my husband.

I've seen the pictures of "don't do this" or "bad niches" and I think we will be ok if we get one that is 12" wide and we can then use a full tile instead of trying to use smaller pieces and then grout in it.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Shan

Maybe Dal Tile or Conestoga, depending on which one your looking for.Otherwise the Noble Store will ship it right to you.Not sure it would ship today , but ,I would guess you'd have it by Wed. even it it ships Mon.

Welcome Shan,
Ill second the Noble niche, excelent product and fits between stud cavity, cut a 2x4 to fit under it for support , give your walls a couple coats of liquid waterproofing like Hydroban and your ready for tile.

Thanks everyone - I'll go ahead and order from Noble...and practice the art of patience at which I'm failing miserably! :-)

Hey, Irish Steve, can you post a close up of that arched detail in your picture. I might have to steal, er, borrow that for my shower. Was it a pain?
