Unfortunately for these home owners they went with the cheapest bid and after leaving town for a few days while the bathroom was being worked they came home to this, needless to say that they fired him immediately, but they are still out thousands of dollars being that they paid him 75% of the money up front and aren't able to get it back, they didn't like my price for demo and starting over, they think they can just take the tiles off the walls and skin it out, I told them no tile man will come in here and do that, the shower pan liner has to be replaced since I'm sure it wasn't installed correctly, oh well, can't win them all...

Looks like a 40% stagger on one wall and maybe a 20% on the other. I think I've seen his work around my area.

That's countertop edge on the one corner, isn't it?

I see he got the Hardibacker screwed into the curb on one part. I guess he wanted to leave the other part intact so it wouldn't leak all the way across.

Until we tore it out, we wondered why this shower leaked at the curb. The finish shower floor height was about level with the liner on top of the curb. Instead of adding another 2x4 on the curb, they used 2 inches of mud. I guess they forgot the lath.

Yep, that's what I usually see. I saw a curb one time that looked to be mudded with sanded grout. I think it was Sahara Tan. We never know what we'll see.
