I typed a response on the gun issue and then deleted it. It occurred to me that this thread could get political, and we don't want that to happen.

Very scary law pass indeed, so how does the value of the weapon get assessed when you turn it in? Or... are you out what you paid in full?

the talk of a buy back of the now illegal guns is likley to be in the 3/4 of a billion dollar range according to some experts, the general consensus is that gun owners will replace their "illegal" guns with legal guns, gangs and crims with illegal guns will keep them and a massive black market will appear in semi autos, gun shop owners with now "illegal" stock cant sell them and possibly wont be able to export them and wont get compensation from the government

i think the population is just under 5 million, there are lots of hunters here and many of them own several firearms, plus they are expensive here as well.

Well, a "buyback" preassumes that they owened the guns in the first place....which I doubt was the case. Nothing more than a "gun grab."
