Ntca

Finally bit the bullet and joined this week after attending a seminar last week. Justifying the cost has always been what kept me from joining in the past - you know - not sure if it would be worth it - or even the times I thought it would be worth it cash flow wouldn't allow it...

This week I was scheduled to start a glass pool installation - I get a call last minute - even though customer accepted my numbers 3+months ago - they call freaking on the price. Tell me they have already called & are waiting on 2 other bids - I get this info at 6 pm on the night before we are scheduled to start

Long story short - after a frantic day of collecting other reputable installer price ranges, and glass mfg requirements - I made a call to NTCA & got to speak with Bart Begitta - Executive Director NTCA and after a lengthy conversation he offered to email a letter for me to give his input.

At the 2hr meeting scheduled this afternoon I go in armed with all my info including my email from Mr. Begitta - by the end of the meeting I walk out with the deposit and leave everyone with a warm & fuzzy feeling that I am willing to go the distance to ensure they get what they pay for...

Bottom line? I don't even have my membership packet yet and have already received technical & pricing information that helped close a deal today!!

Not to mention the deal NTCA is currently offering - $1500 in mfg coupons in exchange for 1yr membership dues of $350.

Definitely worth checking out for anybody sittin on the fence.

Good way to end the week after loosing some tools yesterday....see other thread.....

Steve, the NTCA had a lower membership offer advertised during Coverings...call 'em before it's too late.

Glad to hear Bart (sitting on the left, listening to Dave Gobis) helped seal the deal...he's a good guy!

Steve,
Gerald Sloan brought the trailer here to Jax to Daltile and was offering reduced membership, $1500 in manufacturer coupons for those in attendance. Check their site to see if they have one coming near you. They ran over a few techniques about setting tile better and pimped certification and most importantly had free food.

Glad membership helped you John. Guess that answers the question "Is joining worth it?"
Call Scott about the tool theif. He knows what to do.

TCNA? NTCA?? Somebody is having a class at Dal-Tile Albany on Thursday, June 11. All are welcome, I'm thinking of the Binghampton/ ithica people, Vermont, Harriman... We had one about 3 years ago and it was great, a 3 hour lecture/ q & A that pretty much covered changes and updateds to the TCNA handbook 2006? edition.

I may not be able to go as is in-laws 50th wedding anniversary- big filet mignon dinner at premier area steakhouse planned.

Maybe someone from TYW should contact Bart (NTCA) to see if they would offer the same rated membership to TYW forum members?

Gueuze,
That's the seminar that we're talking about. Explain that you can't make the filet mignon dinner because you have tile stuff to do. That will go over well with the family.

We even got new 2009 handbooks, free caulk eze, an edition of Tileletter, CTI applications, q&a.......

Royce, getting divorced over a tile seminar is not gonna happen. Plenty of better reasons.

gueuze- I did speak with the manager at Dal today, he said he'd save me a handbook and a t-shirt.

that is a good idea. it's low now but you think with 20-30 tile contractors on here signing up we could all get a group rate.
and then the manufacturers coupons would be great for us to talk about then and how they are helping our industry by doing that.
