MAPEI Technical Services position - Florida
We have an opening in our Product Support group based here in Deerfield Beach, Florida due to an internal promotion. The primary role for this person will be to provide phone-based support about MAPEI's products and enter the information into our CRM system. Additionally they will generate and edit technical bulletins, review TDS sheets, apply products prior to field trials, reply to customer emails, and respond to requests from other departments.
This would be a good opportunity for someone with an installation background who is looking to transition to an office environment. The candidate should be knowledgeable about industry standards and best practices. MAPEI is a global manufacturer of products for construction and offers competitive compensation and excellent benefits as well as opportunities for advancement. Thanks for posting Dan. Getting a lot of views, that's a good start.
Might get more interest January 15th or April 14th.....

Sounds like an awesome opportunity Dan, whoever gets that position will be lucky to be surrounded by such a great group of supportive people and great products to represent. I am thinking about that nice weather now we had cruising down the waterway as it rains up here in the north

Its phone based? does that mean the applicant does not have to live in Florida?

Paul, right before the holidays is a tough time to fill a position but it also gives people an excuse to get their resumes updated instead of talking to family members...
Unfortunately we can't just give someone a headset and a script and let them work from home, we want our phone support group to be here with the rest of the department. There's a lot of idea sharing that goes on over the partition walls and way too many products to be an expert on all of them. By having the person physically here, they have direct access to 150+ experts, one of which will likely know the answer. Plus the hands-on aspect of the position is much easier if your hands are here.
Just as an added enticement, it's December 17th, 77 degrees, and sunny where I am (4 miles from the beach). Contrast that with where YOU are...

sounds real tempting especially this time of year..got too many irons in the fire for me to relocate right now though. I'll try and think of someone..but I don't know too many guys that stay up on tile education.
What kinda experience are you looking for? the more the better I assume.

Dan,
I would be there in a heartbeat!!! You had me at 77 degrees. Seems I cant convince the better half on moving. Just bought her a new snowblower and shovel. Hopefully that will sway her vote.

Jim, the experience we'd love to see:
* Familiarity with installing a variety of floor coverings but ceramic tile in particular
* Familiarity with industry standards and where to go to look them up
* Phone skills
* Computer (data entry mostly) skills
* A willingness to learn (and learn, and learn, and learn)
We've had some interest from some folks here which is great, thanks for spreading the word! (79 degrees right now, heading up to a high of 82 today. Just sayin'...)

It makes me smile that you posted those words. So many forget that education doesn't stop with the last diploma

I'll be mean too. While reading this it was 77 degrees, sunny and we picked some fresh oranges off the tree.
Back to you Dan!

I've always wondered about these positions. Not asking numbers, but what is the pay like? Is it a comfortable living usually for the regions they are posted in? Much opportunity for advancement?
