Big drop in attendance?

I'll throw my 2 cents in. I do not come here much at all anymore. Why? Well, like others have said, some of the comments by those who are supposed to be mods. For instance, "Can't see it from where I'm at?" After so many time of seeing this phrase, I eventually start reading it as being a smart ass. Got to the point that as soon as I saw this, I would back out of the post.

I'll agree with NotSoMuch. Product promotion of certain brands is huge. Intentional or not, it is. There was a time that a person would have thought this was a forum owned by Schluter or Laticrete. While this page did good about showing what was coming up, it did seem to have its favorite companies.

As for Tile Geeks, yes it is industry encompassing, the entire industry. Anybody that touches tile for a living seems to be there. Well, I'm not there anymore. I notice that whenever I "join" the page to see what's going on, my email inbox starts to get full of promotional offers from various manufacturers. Coincidence, maybe? But when I leave the page, the emails go away.

I still stop in here from time to time. Log in very rarely. I've posted a few comments only to go back to and delete them, just don't want the drama. I'll leave this post and go back to my little off kilter world in the web...

I don't now how your getting promotional emails from looking at a group on FB. doesn't make sense. I can see sales reps going to your business page and cold calling you or sending a message, but how do they get your email ? FB uses algorithms and puts up ads in the right of your page that match your group interests.

promotions and ads are a way of life when your trying to run a page like this.

The mods here have always been great and keep things under control. kudos to them all past and present!

Maybe it's just a huge coincidence. But the last 2 times I went onto TG, within a week the emails were hitting my email box. I removed myself from the group and they die off. Last time I joined TG, I had closed down my business FB page. So, I'm not really sure. No biggie, my style of work isn't exactly TG type anymore. Not worthy of Post Pics of Worst Tile job either.

You possibly could've signed up for one of those coupons or surveys and they got your email from the form and have shared it and now you're on the spam list LOL

Another difference is here this type a thread goes on and on and on. Rehashing stuff over and over, how many including myself are going to read through the whole thing A thread where new content like "Work in Progess" is constantly being input is interesting.

This is one great thing about FB, a post is made and it goes away. Here it lingers and members come in now and then and give their input there is no momentum like FB. This variety of posting keeps it interesting for those of us who need the constant variety of input vs the same few over and over
