Florida Pinellas County Tile and Marble Contractor Certification

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I just moved to the Tampa Area in Florida from MN and have been a tile setter for 15 years. The business was doing very well and focused on the high end.

As you are aware, the licensing requirements here in Florida are quite different than in many other states. Can you give me some pointers to pass the certifications? I am aware that I need the letters of character and statements from Contractors that I have worked in the business for several years. I do have these documents but please give any feedback you think would be important.

I was informed by the county that besides the Tile and Marble certification, I also need to pass the Business & Law Exam. I did buy a study guide for each from a company called "1Exam Prep".

Can you recommend other resources for the study? Can you speak from your own experience regarding needing to pass the tests? Meaning difficulty you perceived, actual difficulty, things to watch out for, things I wont really need etc.

Very much appreciate any input.
All the best!

Thank you both for your reply and the suggestion. Is this moved over to the correct forum already or do I need to post it again?
Still new to this. :-)

I live in Palm Beach county Florida. I had to pass the Tile and Stone contractors exam. It was a open book exam containing 50 Law and business questions and 50 Tile , stone and terrazzo questions. It was actually a pretty did cult exam and I know of multiple people that failed it. The key is to know where everything is in the books. If you don't know the answer skip it and come back to it later. Narrow down the answers. If you don't know the answer the check C.
