Best type of covering for smart panels/sides

I need to paint my smart panel/sides of the shed. What is the best type of covering? I had read latex acrylic paint, but that was one person. What is the best method? Paint? Stain? Water based? Oil?

What's a "smart panel/side," David? Alla building siding I've installed (some acres) has been mostly not smart, best I could tell. 'Least none of it could hold even a low level conversation.

Can't say I've ever heard of it, David. Manufacturer seems to recommend an acrylic latex paint.

Not sure I'd chose an engineered wood product for that application rather than something like HardiePlank siding, though. Same paint, though.

It came with the shedding kit, so I am stuck with it. The kit isn't so cheap after you add in the base, pt frame, pt floor and shingles. Live and learn.

The real question, is what are those panels made of and what do they have on them now? Do the instructions say anything about what finish to put on them, if any is required?

Here's where I found information indicating "engineered wood," Jim.

They want a 100% acrylic primer on any cut edges and a sealant or profile for the edges between adjacent horizontal pieces. https://youtu.be/BTwxFD5tZjk
