I did my own Kerdi shower while living in VA. It was my first ever tile experience. I learned a lot from this forum, John's books and just plain ole doing the work, but the most important thing I learned was that I didn't need to do it again to prove the experience.
However, we had to move back to UT because of my parent's ill health. So, I need to do another bath (basement this time) and my wife wants it done like the one in VA. YIKES!
So, I'm looking for a contractor that's a mudman/person and/or a Kerdi/Ditra person and is available in northern Davis county.
PM if you're interested to work for somebody who's 1) pretty picky and 2) would like to do some of the work to reduce cost.
(Here's betting that last statement results in no sane person contacting me...
...either that or the estimate will be doubled if I want to be involved...
