Not necessarily a tile question..
Hey guys,

I have to build a cabinet with a heat-resistant counter-top (I guess @ 500 F). It is to be covered with a piece of stainless having an overhanging lip of ~2". Reckon I could top a piece of 1/2" CD with 2 layers of 1/2" "X" sheetrock? I would set all of this inside and just proud of my top rail and support every 12'-16" with cross braces. Cabinet will look something like this. Not as big though.

why not cbu? its extremely heat resistant. I took a torch to it one time and the back hardly got warm at all.

Well now that is a thought...Think one 1/2" layer is sufficient? What...Duroc, Hardie, Wonderboard?
