Slate - Carpet Transition?

We're planning to put a slate floor in a laundry room of a beach house. Current linoleum is tatty and will be removed, concrete beneath. Whole project is ~~ 8' x 10', so not really a huge undertaking. Also functions as a "mud room" with door out to pool area, so durable floor is the desire. We're thinking slate on slab fits that description, as well as being aesthetically pleasing.

Other door in the laundry room opens to a carpeted area. So, finally a question: what do we use at the transition? What kind of products/techniques are available for that purpose?

Thanks for the tip. I looked at the site you mentioned -- lots of cool looking devices. I guess the question is, are these available to a mere consumer? It looked to me that the quantities described were for pro's only. I'm not sure what I'd do with 10@12ft of these things!

These also appear to be vinyl; is there a metal alternative? Wood? Should I care that much?

Look at Schluter's Reno-TK transitions. Those are the ones you want.

Those Shulter transitions look like just the ticket! So, where do I get them? The website had the feel of "trade only", not consumer oriented... :-)

I will call them anyway, once it's a weekday again...
