Granite Help

Does anyone have a good link about the different types of granite? I am trying to find out which are "true" granites, and which are not. Which types of granite are less porous and resist staining more than others. Basically looking for a list of the strongest, most durable granites used for slab countertops.
Also, trying to figure out if different types of granite need different sealing. Like do some need it, and some don't? What is honed granite? Thanks.

Dear Emptysea:
You can take a look at: http://www.findstone.com/daniel1.htm.
You will learn a great deal of theory, but nothing really practical that could answer your questions.
I did write a very comprehensive article about selecting the right "granite" for a kitchen countertop, which, I believe, will answer most of your qeustions. Gimme a holler through the Contact Us section of the web site listed below and I'll e-shoot it you, pronto, at no charge!
Ciao and good luck,

Re: Granite Help

Steven Hauser, Basically what I said in my first post. I was wondering if there were any good granite websites that listed the "true" granites, listed various granites in categories, and had a lot of granite information about the different types, edging, explain what honing is, talk about sealing, etc... I couldn't find one, so I was wondering if there was one out there. I figure with granite being so popular, there might be a great website out there for kitchen remodelers.
