Might be for the best, Joey.
When you're saying things on the Internet, it's best to assume that your mother is standing over your left shoulder, and the FBI is standing over your right.

For better or for worse, Google robots are present on the site almost continuously. I have joked about setting out milk and cookies to keep them coming back. Google bots are not alone here, though. Many other search sites, including Yahoo, send their bots here routinely.
When bots crawl the site they pick up every bit of information available and then turn it over to other bots that index it in the data bases of the sites that employ them
Google controls about 50 percent of the search market, Yahoo around 30 percent, with the remainder shared by all the rest.
We have tens of thousands of pages indexed in the Google database, which makes it very likely one of those pages will come up when someone enters the right search terms. It's no surprise that usernames are included.
My username is John Bridge. No telling what you'll find if you type that name in.

C'mon Joey
You can look at all the posts for any member right here at the forums . . .
Not only that, this is the mud box -- not the advice forum -
not even the pro's hang . . . no one is here to judge you -- at least not me
Why are you paranoid . . . ? Are you worried about prospective clients
seeing what you think? -- It's been my experience that people generally
like someone with a unique and well considered perspective.
Personally I don't use the forums as a marketing arena -- I just
enjoy talkin' to other tile folks -- likely you've got a little thinset under your nails right now -- I can relate to that.
This is a public forum so, yes, people can read your posts.
Still, people come here for tile advice, and even though
some may prefer your politics over mine, or the reverse, they would
be foolish to base their professional opinion about you solely on your
political ideas -- man, some of my best friends are polar opposites when it comes to politics.
I guess my point is, the politics in the Mud Box are a chance for tile people to share ideas good and bad. I think it's OK to have strong opinions and feelings about stuff. That's life yes?
Not only that, but who really cares what I think -- I'm a tile guy and an artist; as long as my installs are first rate, I can't imagine someone giving
a proverbial "rat's ars" about my personal views.
Sorry to be so verbose, but it makes me feel bad you don't feel
safe here. I am a bit naive though.
If you are in the public sphere and under constant scrutiny, or if you are planning on running for public office in later life, then yes, discretion is a
good thing. If you are a tile pro or a close facsimile therein . . . well,
Say what you think -- don't sweat the small stuff.

I live in the conservative armpit ... I'm not going to pretend that Palin is smart so someone from Focus on the Family hires me. Who cares.

the internet is forever.....
I don't have a Facebook account. I don't Twitter. I don't YouTube. I did register on "classmates" but only to keep in touch with announcements like reunions. I'm not surprised that some of you didn't realize the potential ramifications of an internet presence, but it truly amazes me that the supposedly "tech-savvy" younger generations seem to be truly clueless. These high school kids are going to get a very rude awakening when that potential employer pulls out printouts from their Facebook account and asks, "by the way, is this you?"

"When I look back on my years in office," says C. Everett Koop, Reagan's former Surgeon General, "the things I banged my head against were all poverty."
When Bill Clinton looks back the things he banged his head on were the knicker elastic of his interns.

There seems to be many other "tile rite's", which gives me a protective shield. Hey, maybe thats how you beat these bots. Just use a common name.

I agree with Matt. I don't pretend to go to church, just to advertise in the "Christian Yellow Pages" and I don't worry about worry about my opinions expressed here driving away business. Frankly, if they are more concerned about my personal views than the work I would be doing for them, I don't need the headache.
Keep it honest and as polite as possible, and there's nothing to hide.

Yes Dave - and she already had to sit down when people referred to you by your nickname "Stoner". She just did not raise you that way...
