windows recovery
Okay,i shut the laptop too hard and windows wouldn't start up.Eventually i used the windows recovery cd that came with the pc.Trouble is i set bioto run off the cd at the start up.Now it thinks it's running off the recovery cd and i have no memory to do anything. And at start up i don't get the option any more to run off the internal instead of the cd.the option. Before i punched f12 for the bios option. Anybody know how i can fix this?

I'm not completely understanding the exact problem you're having, but if you're trying to get back into the bios to change the disk bootup order...
Most bios's use the DEL key, if that doesn't work try F2 or F8.

If its setup to boot from the CD first and then the hard drive second if there is no CD in the drive it should boot from the hard drive. What kind of laptop is it?

Nothing works.I cannot keep from the recovery windows from coming up.I thought when i used the recovery cd i would still be using the original op system, but it is separate.Kinda like runnin dos i guess.Good thing is maybe my original stuff isn't erased after all.I guess i'm gonna have to get somebody smarter to fix this, thanx.

I had this problem too and this is what I did. The first step is to make sure you've corrected the problem with the hard shut-down. To do this you will need to boot from the recovery CD and run CHKDSK. Directions to do this are at support.microsoft.com/kb/314058 under "option 2" go through steps 1-4. Then run the command: chkdsk c: /r . This should take a while, maybe an hour, maybe overnight.
Then eject your CD by pressing the button on the drive door.
Then type exit to get out of the recovery console
This worked for me.
As DannyT correctly indicates there may be a boot sequence problem. this will probably be resolved by removing the cd. Is there something that is preventing you from doing this?
Good luck.

Got it back... The boyz tweeked Bios and renamed g drive back to c and it worked just fine... Bios didn't recognize the "g" drive and would not boot...
I put a wireless card in this tower so now it's portable.. I can take this 5o pound bad boy to Panera Bread anytime I feel like carrying it, the key board, 24" monitor and mouse with me... aaaaaaa ain't gonna happen...
