Leak Testing a Kerdi Shower?
If all goes well, I hope to apply the Kerdi to my shower floor and walls tomorrow.
I think I remember someone saying I should wait 2 days before filling the pan with water. I assume it is OK to let the water sit in the pan overnight?
Will any damage be done if the water sits in the finished Kerdi pan for 2 days? (One day for me to verify it holds water, a second day for the inspector to come verify it's holding water) Or should I drain it and refill it before the inspector arrives? I don't want to call the inspector out till I know it is water tight.

Water won't hurt the Kerdi.

Anthony, I agree with Bob. No problem. How come we're getting spread out here? It'll be much better if your stick to your bathroom thread.

Anthony,
I've completed my Kerdi shower. When I did the pan test I filled it to the top of the curb and let it sit for 2 days. No problems. Also, I had finished installing the Kerdi 2-3 days before my pan test.
Here's the link to my shower thread

John,
> How come we're getting spread out here?
I needed answers, and I wasn't sure it would get noticed in my "Anthony's House" thread.
Thanks Bob!
Thanks Joe for the first hand experiences. I appreciate it.

Here was my original plan:
Monday: Install Kerdi
Tuesday: Relax
Wednesday: Fill Shower Pan
Thursday: If No Leaks, Call for inspection
Friday: Inspector would come, and assuming approval, I could start tiling the bath walls.
Unfortunately, I have to go to a funeral service on Friday and a memorial on Saturday. So, I'm kind of in a bind for time, and if I can't get the inspection this week it will set everything else back by a week.
So, I'm wondering what I can do to reorganize my schedule to get this done this week. Obviously I don't want to screw anything up by rushing things, but I'm in a bind.
Would it be too early to fill the Kerdi shower pan tonight (Tuesday, 1 day after it was installed)?
I suppose I could call for an inspection on Wednesday, and hope that there are no leaks when the inspector gets here Thursday, but I'm really not comfortable doing that.
Any ideas, other than waiting till next week?

If you are using an un-modified thinset, I think 24 hours is plenty of time to wait for the leak test.

Bob,
Yep, I used "dryset" unmodified thinset. Everything "looks" dry from the outside.
Maybe I'll wait till later tonight to filler-up...
