12x24 tile direction in powder room?

I'm having my powder room remodeled and have chosen 12x24 inch floor tiles. The room measures 5' wide x 6' deep. I was advised to run the tiles vertical (from entrance to back wall), but I don't know if this will look odd since they will be perpendicular to the hardwood floor just outside of the bathroom. I know this comes down to personal preference, but would appreciate any feedback/suggestions.

Thanks

If you’re running a brick joint we always run it so you see the brick joint looking through the doorway.

Same here. Standing in the doorway, I want to see the staggered pattern. But either way works.

Jeff/Davy - I'm not familiar with a brick joint, but plan to use the threshold found in this pic. I laid out a few tiles in a horizontal fashion and feel it would look aesthetically pleasing, but not sure if the vertical layout would look better. Any final thoughts?

If the tiles are flat enough, you can get by with a 50% stagger. Most of the time the 12x24 tiles are cupped and a 1/3 stagger works better. With cupped tiles, the 50% stagger causes more lippage than we like.
