Replacement part

[RANT]

So the other day I went through Contractors Direct and ordered a new scoring wheel for my Felker FPC-19 slide cutter. The dern thing cant weigh but maybe 1/2 a pound or so...the shipping on it was $9.75 and they sent it USPS priority mail. Why do people feel the need to make money off of shipping?

Apparently you didn't go through our store to get to CD, Craig, as I can find no similar order in my files and can't check on the shipping on your behalf.

Sounds like it was sent in a flat-rate Postal Service envelope, though. That be the case?

Got an order number you'd like to share?

Where is the Contractor Direct link? I just placed a nice size order on Thursday. Looked under "Visit Advertisers" button couldn't find it.

How I got there was, I clicked on the TYW Store link (found at the top left of the forum in the dark blue bar, by the User CP link), then I click on the Contractors Direct link about halfway down the page.

Brian, I got that same page when I got to my shipping options as well! It showed $9.75 as the cheapest shipping option available, via UPS as well. When I got my confirmation email, it showed it was being sent USPS, with USPS priority mail tracking.

Yep, and we appreciate it.

The other ways of getting there being mentioned work, too. There is also an icon near the bottom of the page.

I don't have any numbers that high in my files from CD as yet. There's always a lag time from the sale 'till they send my details. I can see on the third-party site that handles the account that a sale was made under that number on 11-04-10 and the amount of sale, but that's all I can determine until I get my notification from CD.

Can't check on it 'till Monday, anyway. I'll point out this thread to my contact there and see if they have any comment, though.

Shipping charges are something I've pretty much made peace with, myownself. I can't even drive the ten miles to Homer's for ten bucks, so anything I get dropped off at my door for that doesn't upset me much. Even when it might look excessive. I figger I got what it is I wanted, in a rather timely manner, and it cost ten bucks to get it. Done and done.

They are running a business not a hobby. They used to have it where any order over $ 150 and they waived the shipping charges but they did away with that. I try to order a couple things at once to absorb the shipping charges.

I agree CX, I am happy that I can still get the part considering Felker stuff is hard to get these days. I felt the shipping was a bit steep on such a small part at the time I ordered it, but unfortunately, there aren't many places to get Felker stuff from, so I felt as I had not many options.

PS, I hate Homer buckets. The small circle on the bottom of the bucket always spins out from the drill, and when you pick it up, you will have a snail trail of thinset if you don't be careful.

Craig,
I would call them and tell them to adjust your shipping to what you clicked it as
on the site. you didn't need it priority mail, basic UPS ground would have been fine.

I remember Sears charging me like $7 to ship a $.10 lock washer. They placed it in a regular mail envelope via USPS.

I just got a 100 lb wet saw $0.00 shipping in three days. I guess it's in how much you spend.

Brian, I did click the $9.75 shipping for UPS. I was fully aware of this charge when I ordered. With limited suppliers of Felker parts though, I felt I didn't have much of a choice, so that's why I did it. I was just venting about it is all...

$7 for a .10 cent washer, that's pretty turrible!
