Variation in Grout Joint Width

I'm new to the site and need some advise.
I just purchased a new home and in the shower, at eye level, there is one vertical grout joint that is over 2 time the size of the immediate surrounding grout joints. The tile installer said it was up to industry standard and will not fix it. The developer agrees with their subcontractor.
The Tile Council of North America unfortunately does not address this but only address the variation in tile size which will cause variation in grout width.
I feel my problem is basically poor workmanship. The tile installer probably cut the tile too small and installed it anyways.
Is there any written specification that I can use to make them correct this.
Thank you in advance for your help

James you are correct about the variation in tile size having an impact on the grout joint size.

The question becomes, will the repair cause more damage than good?

For when DIY isn't such a good idea...

Hi James,

Back up a little and give us more joints to look at.

this grout line variation is sometimes necessary and sometimes just poor workmanship. In my personal oppinion it's not great, but not terrible either. Looks like you're stuck with it, so stop obsessing about it and enjoy your new home.

While it's nice to have all the grout joints the same size, the one shown in your picture isn't that bad, and if that's the worst of it, I wouldn't obsess over it.

If the tile came from HD or Lowe's, those are grout joints you are going to have to live with.
We have seen much worse.

James. We are the first ones to say that someone else's work sucks. But we will need a picture of the whole area to make that call.
You say that you think they cut the tile too small. I don't see anything that says it's a cut tile. But then again, i don't examine pictures that well.

There is a good chance that the tile is up to snuff. But i feel you. Nothing worse than a crappy grout joint at eye level. Especially in a brand new house that you are paying for.
Is this s tract house? I would call that tile good if so. Especially if it's the only issue. Probably not worth tearing a whole in a shower to fix it.
Is this a million dollar custom home? Then they better get back there and fix it.

We need a pic from further back.

I am neither clever nor funny

It's just a clever handle.
