How you did it for most cases. Some tiles are fragile and Iíll drill out the corners then cut-out with the grinder. Best thing is to mark out your cut on both sides, cut the front without overcutting then just overcut on the backside. Then knockout corners or tile teeth if you need to, nippers help with that.

Same as you, but without the crescent wrench.

Do you mind if I move this thread to the Pro Hangout?

Just as Chris does. I use a 1/4Ē core bit for the corners. It doesnít leave a perfect square cornered hole, but for outlets and such Iíve never needed that level of perfection. I pretty much go right through so nothing to knock out. Use the nippers on any remaining edge pieces.
I found, for me at least, if I work at a higher level itís easier on my back. I used a plastic full sized garbage can upside down with a piece of carpet remnant for cushioning and support underneath. This forces it to be outdoors because it kicks up a ton of dust. Mask and face shield are a necessity.

Coring bit and a diamond jigsaw blade works well. No smashing needed, if you have some delicate material.
