Building a SHED kit -

I purchased a kit deck which is sitting in my garage. The base of the kit is comprised of 2 x 4, and does not come with deck block/footing.

According to a couple of the youtube videos I watched, only one of them used 4x4 instead of the 2x4 for the base.

The shed is going to be used for storage of pool equipment, liner and garden stuff.

1) Am I ok with using the 2 x 4 base or should I purchase the 4 x 4 pieces instead to make it more secure?

2) If I go with the prescribed 2 x 4 base (EDIT watching more videos have made me even more confused -- it looks like people are using 2 x 6) and they slide into the deck blocks "cross" - I thought that wood should not be in contact with cement? Should I cover the connection point with tape?
