Is there a good standard size for backsplash murals?

Hey all, I thought I'd ask the pros if there was a good size for a basic backsplash mural, like something that you would put above a stovetop to fill in that space?

When I start making mosaics for a living, I want to have some custom work and some murals that are "stock" and ready to go, and I'm trying to figure out the best size to go with for those.

I figured you guys might have some insight on dealing with the tile layout around these things. Thanks so much!

Hi Beth,

it would probably all depend on the area to be tiled.
some area's behind the stove are small due to a stove with a high back.
and some area's have over head hoods or microwaves.
so that area' varies a lot.
but the width of that area if I'm not mistaken should all be about 30".

Most ranges are 30", but you also get 36" and 48" sizes. My guess is the income level also goes up with the size of the cooking surface

Yeah, I figure the range size would go up, the more money is involved.

Okay, so 30"-36"-48". I guess what I need to ask is, if I just worry about width for the moment, how much space around the mural would be ideal room to continue the field tile? That's probably too complicated a question, though, eh? Since you never know what the field tile size is going to be. hmmm...I need to start bringing a tape measure to my friends' houses and map this out. And I think I probably just need to create these things with some room to cut them back to fit better if they need it.

Thanks everybody!
