herring bone backsplash

im going to start a back splash with diagonal herring bone pattern on 12"x 12" mats. is it better to square off the starter edges or piece in the missing triangles later

I like to run the sheets of tile thru the saw on a 45. If any tiles need to be added, I like to install them as I go.
