Opinions on grout enhancer

I’ve got black unsanded grout that came out charcoal. It’s on a basketweave mosaic tile so I’d really prefer to avoid grout stain.

In the past, it’s been hit or miss with me and grout enhancer in general, irrespective of brand. Always the risk it comes out splotchy. But i never specifically checked this before…if the grout uniformly darkens when wiped with a sponge, does that mean the enhancer would also uniformly darken it?

Hey Lou,

We have had spotty luck (pun intended) with enhancing sealers consistently darkening cement grout in the past. These sealers will typically use a carrier molecule that is smaller than water, so while water may uniformly darken, the sealer may not.

You could always test in an inconspicuous area (if there is one) and then go from there.
