Hi Guys,

I just finished tiling my kitchen and am disappointed in the color of the grout. I used polyblend new taupe, which is fairly dark. It looked great while I was putting it down, a little darker than the color shown on the bag. The only problem is that it dried to almost a light grey color (much lighter than the color on the bag and on the color sample guide. Not really the look I was going for. If I wet it, it looks like the color I want.

My questions for you guys are:

1. Was it something that I did, or do you think it is just variation in the color? I measured out everything and beilieve that I mixed it correctly. I did use tap water though..

2. I read on the bag something about effloresence? could this be it? the bag says that this can be cleaned with sulphonic acid cleaner. my tiles have a warning on the box not to use acidic cleaners, so I am leary of this.

3. If I am stuck with tis color, does something exist that I could use to stain it darker, or possibly a sealer would darken it enough (but would it darken it as much as wetting it with water?). If so what brands do you recommend and where to get?

thanks for any help,
